Proposed Recreation Fee Increases

Last week the Governor's Budget was introduced and DNR is requesting fee increases for several of the dedicated funds. The requested increase for snowmobile registration is $10 per year so a 3 year registration would be $105 plus Deputy Registrar fees. They have also requested that the out of state permits go from $35 to $50. Attached are the talking points used by the DNR for their requests.
MnUSA's Board of Directors will need to take a position on this fee increase at its meeting on February 12th. Without input from the MnUSA membership this is a very difficult decision knowing additional funding is needed to fulfill the grants to the clubs but a too high increase at one time may cause drop outs to snowmobiling.
